UG held, wildlife products seized

Imphal, July 18 2014 :
Based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of a UG cadre, troops of 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in the general area of Serou in Thoubal district and apprehended one PLA cadre on 17 Jul 2014 .
The apprehendee was identified as Phuiroijam Joykumar, S/o Phuiroijam Lukhoi, resident of Serou.
The apprehendee was handed over to the Sugnu Police Station, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
In another incident, based on specific intelligence regarding the moment of lady cadres of PLA and smuggling of banned wildlife products, troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at the Sita Road Junction.
The suspicious vehicle, a Silver coloured Maruti Omni Registration Number MN-01W - 0062, traveling from Imphal to Moreh was stopped for checking, resulting in the apprehension of four individual and recovery of 400 gm Pangolin Shells on 17 Jul 14.The apprehendees were identified as Mrs Shanti, aged 44 yrs, W/o Mr Nillakhamba, resident of village Chandrakhong Ningel, PO/PS � Yairipok, Dist Thoubal (Manipur), Md Abdul Salam (Driver of Veh), aged 55 yrs, S/o Md Abdul Hakim, resident of village Yairipok Tulihal, PO Yairipok, Dist Imphal East, Mrs Bina, aged 45 yrs, W/o, Mr Shamjai resident of village Leirongthel Malom Pika , PO Yairipok, Dist Thoubal and Mrs K Hambi Devi aged 48 yrs W/o Mr Mr Nungbrang Thoiba Singh, resident of village Nungbrang Thangjamleikai, PO Yairipok, Dist Thoubal.
On questioning Mrs Shanti , revealed that she was carrying Pangolin Shells from Imphal to Moreh for selling it at Moreh which is a forest contraband item.
Sources also revealed that the lady was a PLA cadre, expert in fabricating IEDs.
The individual has been handed over to the Sinjamai Imphal East Police Station and other three apprehendees alongwith the recovered item were handed over to the Forest Department Imphal (Manipur), the statement added.
