Injured 'IM' cadre succumbs

Imphal, January 17 2014 : An NSCN-IM cadre, seriously wounded in an encounter with the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) in November last, died last night here at Shija Hospitals after undergoing two months of treatment at the private clinic.

Homik Tangkhul, 33, a native of Sana Keithel in Manipur's Ukhrul district, succumbed to his wounds at the hospital late Thursday night.

The body has been brought to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here for post mortem.

He was wounded in the gunbattle fought between the armed cadres of NSCN-IM and ZUF at Balok village (Phailong) under Tamenglong district in Manipur on November 12 .

Three cadres of ZUF were killed in the encounter.

ZUF had also claimed that one NSCN-IM cadre was slain and another four were wounded in the gunbattle.
