AMPA celebrates 50th anniversary

All Manipur Press Association (AMPA) celebrated its 50th Foundation Day at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong on Tuesday.
The printing press industry of Manipur is no longer lagging behind compared to that of other states, said Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM) chairman Dr Lamabam Mahendra while speaking at the event, Dr Mahendra recounted that CoHSEM and AMPA had signed an agreement based on which printing houses under AMPA have been printing the books prescribed by CoHSEM.
The Council had taken up the step with the aim of uplifting the entrepreneurs of the state, while AMPA has been able to procure new equipment and produce book with quality designs.
While stating that printing gains importance in the humans' need for learning and accumulating knowledge, he stressed the need for concerted efforts in the development of the state and help produce quality books.
In his speech, All India Federation of Master Printers president P Chan-der said that with advancement in technology, printing houses are now able to produce quality books which will benefit the youth of the state in many ways.
He then urged authors/writers to publishgoodliterary books and help in making the state stand tall in terms of intellect.
As part of the celebration, the attending dignitaries released a souvenir of AMPA.
Later, gifts were presented to the-patron members of the Association and key members of the printing press.
BSEM chairman A Joykumar, AMPA president S Surjit and All India Federation of Master Printers general secretary Ravindra Reddy also attended the celebration.
