"30 services accessible from home"

Imphal, January 16 2025:
Directorate of Transport in coordination with All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) organised a one-day media sensitization programme on 'National Road Safety Month 2025' at Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday.
The opening session of the sensitization programme was attended by secretary (transport) Michael Achom as chief guest and AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam as president while' director (transport) Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Editors' Guild Manipur president Khogendra Khomdram and SO (traffic) Pramesh Arambam were the guests of honour.
In his address, Michael Achom informed that out of nearly 60 public service procedures 31 could be availed or accessed from home with exception of biometric entries.

With these services made contactless or faceless, third party involvement in nearly 30 out of 31 services at DDOs have also been done away with, he said adding that the department is targeting to provide online service for the remaining services within April this year.
The secretary also disclosed about the directorate planning to develop ISBT, Khuman Lampak in tune with time under the PPP model.
Observing that the public seem to be unaware about launch of eChallan system by the directorate in year 2019, he advised the people to insist on eChallan receipt as and when fine is imposed.
He also stressed the need for the media to contribute towards making the masses aware about traffic and road safety rules.
Speaking at the programme, director (transport) Nivedita Lairenlakpam appealed two-wheeler riders and pillion riders to wear helmet and drivers of light motor vehicles to fasten seat-belt, while conveying that the directorate is according top priority on safety measures of the people.
In the technical session held later, Imphal West DDO Khundrakpam Sanjib spoke on CMV Act and Rules while his Thoubal Counterpart Hemochandra Irengbam was the resource person.
