Career & livelihood web portal for NE launched

In its bid to place North East India at the centre of growth and development of the country, Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (M-DoNER) has launched a 'one stop solution' web portal for career and livelihood titled 'Advancing North East', available at domain www.advancingnortheast.in.
The portal funded by North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER and developed by North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on May 4 during the valedictory ceremony of the North East Festival organised by Ministry of DoNER as a part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The portal aims to facilitate informed career decision by the students, job seekers and entrepreneurs of the NE region and to improve their competitiveness at national and global level.
The portal launch event was also attended by the first lady of India Savita Kovind; Union minister of ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal; Union minister of law and justice Kiren Rijiju, Union minister of DoNER G Kishan Reddy, Governors and chief ministers of NE states, Union minister of state for DoNER B L Verma, senior officials of the central and state governments along with eminent personalities of NE.
The portal will act as a virtual mentor in the field of education, employment and entrepreneurship.
It was ideated during the 65th Plenary Session of NEC where Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged NEC to act as state of art resource centre for the region.
The web portal aims to increase employability and develop entrepreneurship in the region by educating the youth with emerging opportunities and connecting them with the support ecosystem.
According to a release, the portal also promotes and celebrates success stories of the region and acts as a centre of knowledge sharing among entrepreneurs, mentors, industry experts, and youths.
A true example of being 'Vocal for Local', the portal is designed and developed by the experts and talents based in the NE region, it said.
