Imphal, November 14 2023:
Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has urged authorities concerned to hand over the unified command to the Chief Minister and give power to the people's representative.
In a release, SSUM publicity & information secretary S Inaoyaima Singh praised the CM, saying that people still remember his good governance for the last five years irrespective of the communities.
In the beginning of the second term, Kuki militants engineered turmoil in the state ruining the image of the present government.
It is the responsibility of everyone to protect forest land, detect outsiders and eradicate drugs.
However, it is unfortunate to remove unified command from the chief minister, who has been bringing up the aforementioned issues to the attention of all.
The present conflict is an engineered conflict against the initiative to protect forest land and war against drugs, he contended, while stressing the need for handing over the unified command to the chief minister.
Clarifying that they did not mean the present unified command is incapable; he maintained that embarrassing the democratically elected representative is uncalled for.
He stated that SSUM still believe in union government and further urged to trust the incumbent CM and ensure a people's government.
The issue of missing of two students has now remained silent, he denounced, while adding that it would be the right step to hand over the unified command to the CM in view of the present situation.
He cautioned of launching intense protest by joining hands with the people in case of failing to meet the demand.
