Nehru remembered on his 124th birth anniv

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India was fondly remembered on his 124th birth anniversary by MPCC at the Congress Bhavan here on Thursday.
The birthday of Nehru is celebrated across the country as 'Children's Day' every year.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee organised an impressive function at the Congress Bhavan to mark the day.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, ministers, MLAs and leaders of the state Congress unit's frontal organisations were present at the occasion.
Leading the participants, Ibobi offered floral tribute at the statue of Pandit Nehru.
Gaikhangam speaking at the occasion, said Nehru was a great freedom fighter, apart from being a great political leader of India.
Nehru was a far sighted personality and an advanced statesman who could see the future, he said.
Gaikhangam also said Nehru was a man of peace who loved the humanity always standing against the idea of war and that the real meaning of the celebration of his birthday will only when the people turn his dream into a reality" .
The AICC has also asked all the state units of Congress to observe the anniversary for a complete one year, he informed.
MPCC will organise workshops, seminars and other programmes based on Nehru's principle and ideology at all the district and block levels throughout the year, Gaikhangam further informed.
The Children's Day was also observed in many parts of the state at various schools and Government departments at district level.
