Imphal, October 14 2024:
BABINA Hospital on Monday organised a free mental health check-up camp aimed at facilitating early diagnosis, consultation, and treatment on mental health issues.
The camp held at the hospital campus had 50 people availing consultation service with expert psychiatrists.
In addition to mental health assessments, patients were offered complimentary diagnostic tests for thyroid, kidney function, liver function, and blood sugar levels, as needed.
According to a statement issued by the hospital's PRO, the camp conducted under the supervision of psychiatrists Dr Haobijam Angomacha and Dr Asheema Haobijam was aimed at encouraging the public to imbibe habit of early detection for effective treatment of mental health conditions, and improve individuals' quality of life by preventing the escalation of such issues.
With mental health becoming an increasing concern, particularly due to the ongoing crisis affecting the state, the camp was aimed at helping individuals recognise early signs of mental health challenges and provide them with necessary resources and support.
"Mental health is often neglected, especially during times of crisis.
Our goal is to provide support to those in need, guide them through effective treatment options, and help them achieve a healthier, balanced life," said Dr Haobijam Angomacha.
Dr Asheema Haobijam stressed the importance of continuous mental health awareness, adding, "The impact of the ongoing crisis has left many grappling with emotional and psychological challenges.
Our camp was an effort to make mental health care accessible to everyone, ensuring no one suffers in silence".
This initiative is part of BABINA Hospital's ongoing commitment to community service and health outreach, particularly in addressing the mental health crisis.
The hospital encourages anyone struggling with mental health concerns to seek help without hesitation, the statement added.
