Nets distributed to flood-affected fish farmers

In view of fishes escaping in large scale manner from fish farms due to recent floods, district fishery office, Bishnupur on Saturday distributed nets to flood affected fish farmers of the district to prevent such occurrence in future.
The nets (100 feet in length & three feet in height) were distributed at district fishery office at D Block, New Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur to 185 fish farmers of Nambol, Oinam, Moirang, Kumbi and Thanga assembly constituencies with each fish farmer getting five nets.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishnupur district fishery officer E Rameshwor informed that the nets were provided as part of first phase of distribution, while efforts will be made that second phase of distribution is done before October-November, during which the state generally experiences floods in the past.
