Training programme conducted

A Tier-Ill training programme on the theme "Local groundwater related issues & participatory groundwater management" jointly organised by Central Groundwater Board, Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR and Geo-Environmental & Technical Services (GETS), Imphal was conducted at Bongjang Village, Chandel District, Manipur today.
Village Chief Paokhisei Halkoo and the Regional Director of CGWB, GL Meena graced the function as chief guest and president respectively while Lunkhomang Halkoo, Secy Bongjang Village authority, Yanglal Haokip, member of Bongjang Village Authority, Dr S Manichandra Singh, Scientist MU, Dr SS Singh, Sr Scientist CGWB, D Kahanikar, Sr Scientist CGWB, Capt Avnesh Rajput, OC 18 AR and Debenkanta Singh, chief chemist PHED Manipur also attended the function as dignitaries.
Dr K Rajen Singh, Geo-physicist PHED, Manipur and Dr RK Chingkhei, Dept of Forestry and Environmental Science MU spoke as resource persons during the function while a technical session was also conducted in which experts from CGWB, PHED, Manipur University and GETS elaborated on the subject and theme of the training programme.
Practical demonstration of the water monitoring using field testing kits was also done to make the villagers aware of the quality of the drinking water with special emphasis on groundwater.
