Imphal, August 13 2024:
Affirming that Manipuri forefathers sacrificed their lives for safeguard of the motherland and the future generations, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has declared that descendants of the brave forefathers must confront all challenges to the state's integrity and unity with unwavering courage and determination.
AMUCO and Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) jointly organised the 133rd Patriots' Day observance at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching, which was marked by offering of floral tributes to the martyrs.
Representatives of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation also participated in the observance.
Speaking on the occasion, AMUCO president Nando Lu-wang stressed that our forefathers placed the motherland above their own lives, and made the supreme sacrifice to safeguard it for future generations.
Similarly, descendants of the patriots should emulate their courage and determination to protect the homeland, rather than the formality of simply offering floral tributes to the martyrs.
He further stated that when the British declared war on Manipur and seize control, Manipuri forefathers fought bravely and sacrificed their lives.
Although they are no longer with us, their spirit lives on within us.
To live under the rule of others, without safeguarding our motherland, is akin to living a dead life.
Therefore, we must strive to live in freedom and confront all challenges with courage, he maintained.
