'Lt Col Ibotombi a defector'

With reference to surrender of Lt Colonel Irom Ibotombi to the government of Manipur on Monday, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has clarified that Ibotombi is a defector and his surrender will not affect the revolutionary struggle for restoration of sovereign status of Manipur in any way.
According to an RPF statement, Lt Colonel Irom Ibotombi alias Keirungba alias Chingkhei (56), son of late Irom Guno of Nambol Thangtek was given the task of distribution of money within the party.
After getting report about irregularities in distribution of money, finance department of the outfit conducted an investigation against Ibotombi sometimes back and he was found to have misused Rs 13,41,500 meant for distribution among the cadres.
Ibotombi left the outfit after further investigation against him was initiated, the RPF statement said.
The revolutionary struggle being waged by the outfit would not be swayed away by surrender of wicked and selfish individual like Irom Ibotombi, who never executed assigned tasks properly, the RPF statement issued by its assistant publicity secretary Bankim said and maintained that RPF is firm on its commitment not to hold peace talk with 'enemy' India except on the matter of restoration of sovereign status of Manipur.
The outfit also termed the propaganda being spread by Manipur government regarding surrender of Ibotombi as a cheap propaganda to appease New Delhi.
