Imphal, January 13 2025:
Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone (LNC-EZ), has announced a 72-hour relaxation of the indefinite bandh imposed by the Koubru Range Liangmai Women Union on SP-Road.
The relaxation began from Monday noon following requests from the Leimakhong Area Protection Committee (LAPC) and the Leimakhong Area Chief Organisation (LACO) to ease the blockade on humanitarian grounds.
In a press release, the Liang-mai Naga Council stated that the temporary relaxation is a grace period for the parties concerned to take responsibility and ensure the surrender of the culprits involved in the physical assault on a woman from Konsakhul Lungwiram village.
The Council cautioned that failure to act within the 72-hour timeframe would result in more intense agitations across Liangmai Naga inhabited areas.
The decision to relax the bandh was unanimously mandated by the Liangmai Naga Council-Eastern Zone, the Koubru Range Liangmai Women Union, and the Eastern Liangmai Chiefs and Chairmen Association, the release added.
