AMESCO calls for unity among indigenes

Imphal, January 12 2025: Sustaining its endeavours to promote unity among the indigenous communities of the state, All Manipur Ethnical Socio Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) joined the celebration of Gaan Ngai festival at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao, Sairem Kabui Khul and Sawombung Duigaipangjang Kabui Khullen on Sunday.

According to a statement, the event was attended by AMESCO president L Ibotombi, advisor IB Luwang, functionaries, village elders and authorities.

Speaking on the occasion, Ibotombi called for unity among the indigenous communities to face the challenges that threatens the social fabric of Manipur and its integrity.

He also emphasised on the importance of promoting indigenous culture and tradition to uphold the identities of the indigenes.

Sawombung Sairem Kabui Khul leader Amuthoi recounted the age-old relationship between Kabui and Meetei, and said that it is high time the two communities unite and stand against' the ongoing proxy war that threatens the state.

In his address, IB Luwang emphasised the responsibility of larger communities to protect and promote smaller communities in the society with mutual respect for one another.

The statement also informed that AMESCO will celebrate the Gaan Ngai festival in different villages in the coming days.
