IDPs accuse Govt for unrest situation in state

Imphal, November 10 2024:
Internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying in relief camps staged sit-in protests at different locations on Sunday to express resentment towards the state and central governments over the 18 months of turmoil in the state.
The protests were organised by Apunba Awonba Manipur Amagidamak (AAMA), Kanglei Women Welfare Association (KWWA), and All Manipur Progressive Students' Association (AMPSA) .
In a joint statement, the protest organisers informed that the sit-ins were staged at the relief camps set up at Mandop Yumpham (Khurkhul), Phayeng High School (Phumlou), Keirao High School, and Tairenpokpi Primary School.
During the sit-ins, protestors held placards with messages questioning how long they would stay in relief camps, despising rehabilitation in fabricated houses constructed by the government, urging to facilitate return to ancestral homes, pleading for leader who can restore peace between the hills and the valley, understands sufferings of public, restore peace in the state, and a leader who can speak boldly on behalf of the people of Manipur.
