CPI bats for House resolution to resolve crisis

CPI Manipur State Council has drawn the attention of the government to adopt a resolution to urge the centre to bring about a political solution to the crisis in the state, during the budget session of the state Assembly set to begin on Monday.
In a press meet held at Irawat Bhawan, BT road here on Sunday, former CPI state secretary L Sotinku mar informed that the party held an executive meeting on Saturday and adopted various resolutions.
He said that the party had been urging for convening an Assembly session to bring an end to the prevailing crisis in the state.
Recounting the last assembly session that lasted barely 11-minute, Sotinkumar hoped that the upcoming budget session would be a meaningful one.
However, the concerning matter is the summoning of CM N Biren and seven other MLAs to Delhi over the past few days.
He observed that instead of focusing on finding the solution, priority of being given on whether to replace the CM or not.
While the state is up in flames, some are trying to take advantage of the situation, which was condemned during the meeting, he conveyed.
Urging for focusing on the state, he mentioned that the lack of any package for Manipur in the union budget.
As such, he urged for discussing the state's issues in the upcoming assembly session and prevail upon the centre to bring a political solution so as to protect the territorial integrity of the state.
Sotinkumar then said that the Meetei, which is the major community of the state, has been unable to access the hills for over 20 months.
The inflation is also sky-high.
Thus, he urged the central and state governments to establish a Highway Protection Force for the national highways to ensure free movement for all, stop all harassment against village volunteers who are merely defending their state, see to the resettlement of around 60,000 IDPs in their original homes, and to protect the territorial integrity of the state with over 2000 years of history.
