One held with heroin, drug factory busted

A team of NAB police station on Wednesday arrested one Khumallambam Dhiren (53) s/o (L) Ningthemjao of Nongpok Lourembam Awang Leikai along with 875 gram of heroin.
According to a police report, a team of NAB PS deployed at Kongba area intercepted a black colour Bolero (ML-10-5309) near Standard College and upon checking the vehicle, the team detected heroin packed in 70 soap caps.
Upon questioning, Dhiren revealed that the drugs were being procured and transported from Chandel.
A case has been registered at NAB PS.
On the other hand, a team of Mayang Imphal police station raided a drug factory located at Mayang Imphal Chirai under its jurisdiction and arrested one person on Wednesday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Md Nawaz Khan alias Abo (23) s/o Md Sameruddin of Irong Khunou Machin.
According to a report, the police team led by OC inspector O Joymangol under the supervision of SDPO L Meghabarna rushed to Mayang Imphal Chirai around 1 pm based on inputs about operation of a drug manufacturing unit.
During the operation, the police team searched the house of one Md Aslam (29) s/o Md Jonordin of the locality and managed to nab Nawaz Khan who was hiding inside the house.
Two individuals including the owner of the house fled the place when they saw the police team approaching.
The Police team recovered several plastic containers containing materials used in making drugs - one container containing 55 litres of ammonium chloride solution, another containing 66 litres of the same solution, a third containing 50 litres of mixed ammonium chloride and suspected opium.
Several other materials used in making drug including plastic tub, aluminium container, LPG cylinders, burner, 5.9 kg lime powder, two empty bottles of ammonium chloride, one bottle containing ammonium chloride and rubber gloves were also recovered by the Police during the raid, the report said.
Upon questioning, Nawaz revealed identify of persons who escaped as Md Aslam Khan (29) and Md Tarique (24) of Thoubal Moijing.
A case has been registered by Mayang Imphal PS regarding the incident and further investigation is underway, it said.
