Governor extends greetings on Armed Forces Flag Day

Manipur Governor Lakhsman Prasad Acharya has extended warm greetings to all the defence personnel of the country on the auspicious occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day on Saturday.
In his message, Governor Lakhsman Prasad Acharya said that the Armed Forces Flag Day, celebrated on December 7 every year, has been observed since 1949 to honour the men and women in uniform and martyrs who have fought and continued to fight to protect the country 's honour.
"Soldiers are one of the greatest assets of any country.
They are the guardians of the nation and protect its citizens at all costs.
To fulfil their duties, soldiers have sacrificed a lot of things in their lives".
He thus acknowledged that the country is forever indebted to these gallant heroes who lay down their lives in the service towards the motherland, while adding that it is the moral responsibility of every citizen to ensure the welfare of soldiers and their families.
Exporting the citizens to show admiration for the martyrs and the living heroes who were wounded while discharging their responsibilities and their families who have been a crucial part of this sacrifice, the Governor reminded that Flag Day brings to the forefront our commitment of looking after our war disabled soldiers, Veer Naris and the families of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
