TCI, TSA plan Thadou Convention on unity, progress

Thadou Community International (TCI) and Thadou Students' Association (TSA) would be organising Thadou Convention aimed at all-round development of the Thadou community globally.
Scheduled from October 31 to November 3 in Guwahati, Assam, the two organisations expect to bring together Thadou leaders, scholars, and community members from across the world to discuss the future of the tribe and its role in the broader socio-political landscape.
According to a joint statement of the two organisations, the specific details of the venue will be shared only after confirmation of attendance and the event's schedule will be provided closer to the convention date.

Objectives of the convention include fostering unity among members and leaders of the Thadou community while affirming the distinct identity of Thadou tribe.
The event will focus on protecting the best interests of Thadou people, particularly in maintaining the tribe's unique identity without any prefix or suffix attached to "Thadou".
It will also emphasise the importance of Thadou tribe in finding solutions to the ongoing Manipur violence and bringing these concerns to the attention of the government, relevant authorities, and other stakeholders.
Another key objective is to discuss the need for a legitimate and unified apex body representing the Thadou community in Manipur, which would carry forward the principles and objectives of the Thadou Conclave 2015 and the Thadou Inpi constitution.
The creation of this body aims to ensure the preservation and protection of the distinctiveness of Thadou tribe, it informed.
The convention will feature series of discussions about situation and condition of Thadou community in India and abroad.
Participants will explore the strengths and challenges faced by the community, as well as the distinguishing characteristics that set Thadou tribe apart from other tribes, A special presentation will be held to outline the need for a Thadou-centred apex body that would work toward fulfilling the vision and objectives of past conventions and help realise the aspirations of the Thadou people.
In addition, the event will offer several opportunities for open discussions and deliberations on various topics, including the future of Thadou society in Manipur and other parts of the world.
These sessions are designed to encourage active participation of attendees and ensure a diverse range of perspectives are heard, the statement added.
