Imphal, July 07 2022:
Gurkha Defence Force (GDF), which is affiliated to People's Defence Force (PDF), Tamu, Battalion (1), has alleged that two Tamil youths from Moreh town in Tengnoupal district were brutally shot dead by the Myanmar Military Junta's outfit called Pyu Saw Htee around 1 pm on July 5 at Saw Bwar Inn Ward near School No 4, Tamu township under Sagaing region.
In a release, GDF stated that both the victims P Mohan (28) and M Iyanar (35) were civilians from Moreh and were visiting friends in Tamu town.
The military Junta and Pyu Saw Htee's actions in this regard were aimed at disrupting the good relationship between the people of Tamu and Moreh, which shares the international boundary of India and Myanmar.
It is believed that the brutal killing by the Military Junta and Pyu Saw Htee was intended to make life difficult for the Burmese people who are fleeing to India's Moreh town, it claimed.
"We condemn the extrajudicial killing of not only Burmese citizens but also people of neighbouring countries.
We also consider this inhuman action by the Military Junta and Pyu Saw Htee to be an insult to the bilateral relations between the people of Tamu and Moreh town and an insult to the Indian Government", it said.
The release also conveyed deepest condolences of PDF Tamu, Battalion (1) to the bereaved families and to the people of Moreh for the brutal murder of the Indian duo.
