Students with 'native names' honoured

With an aim to perk up the ethno-linguistics of Manipur, Kangla Facebook Group (KFG) for the second time honoured excellent students with native Manipuri names who got position and scored higher marks in the HSLC exam 2015 .
KFG awarded 20 students during a function at GM Hall, Imphal.
Social worker K Ibochou Meetei, Head of Department at DM College of Arts Economics Department Prof M Ibohal, MIMS Manipur University Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei, SCERT Imphal East Principal A Romel, Kangla Religious Committee member Dr W Romesh, Echema journal editor P Biramni and Research Forum Manipur member Ksh Suresh attended the event as presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, KFG member W Nongthang said, "Every country is now asserting their ethno-linguistics and therefore we must also strive for it.
He said countries like Japan, China, Thailand and Korea are exerting efforts to make their distinctive languages familiar at the global level.
This, he said, is a cumulative endeavor because language is the backbone of every community, race or ethnicity.
Cash awards and simple gifts were given to the excellent students at the event.
