Cong demands resignation of Union HM

Stating that the Union Home Minister should take responsibility for the incident in Mon district of Nagaland wherein 14 civilians were killed in firing by Assam Rifles, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das has demanded the resignation of the Union Home Minister.
Addressing a press meet held at Congress bhawan here Monday, Bhakta Charan Das strongly condemned the incident in Nagaland and questioned whether the cease fire in place in Nagaland is for namesake only.
the incident has clearly shown the incompetency of the Home Ministry and as such, the central and Nagaland governments should form a committee with the parties concerned to ensure justice is served in the matter.
He further demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the people killed and Rs 10 lakh for the people injured in the incident.
Such incidents.must never be repeated in future and the union home minister should take responsibility of the incident, he asserted.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Alfred Arthur, who also attended the press meet, demanded the resignation of the home minister of Nagaland government.
He then questioned whether the security forces intently violated the cease fire and targeted civilians.
Highlighting the possibility of similar incidents happening in Manipur, Arthur stressed the need for taking pre-emptive measures in this regard.
The press meet was also attended by CLP leader O Ibobi, MPCC president N Loken, CWC member Gaikhangam, ex-MP T Meinya and MLA K Meghachandra.
