Govt doctors advised to give up private 'service'

While assuring to look into reports of government doctors working at private hospitals and clinics, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan has warned of initiating disciplinary actions against doctors who flout standard rules.
The health minister made the declaration in response to queries by media persons on the sidelines of the 13th foundation day celebration cum oath taking ceremony of the 1st Semester BSc Nursing students of College of Nursing, Lamphelpat organised by the Directorate of Health Services, on Tuesday.
The minister said he will initiate investigation into reports of government doctors working in private hospitals or clinics in defiance of the regulations.
He has also revealed that disciplinary action would be taken against any doctors found breaching the rules.
In his address as chief guest of the event, Dr Ranjan said that the government is taking up all possible measures to improve the health sector in the state and advised the nursing students to take suggestions from their seniors.
He also assured to redress grievances faced by the nursing community on priority basis and appealed to the nursing community to serve with commitment and dedication.
According to Dr Ranjan, the dedicated and caring service of the nurses will always be remembered and appreciated.
The minister also congratulated passed out nursing students of the institute and wished them the best in their future career.
He further said that the pattern of examination for selection of nursing students may be amended with the process clubbed with NEET examination for a transparent and quality selection.
The event was also attended by health services director Dr N Surbala Devi, College of Nursing principal Dr A Jamuna Devi, registrar of Manipur Nursing Council, additional director (health) Dr Chambou Golmei, officials and staff of Manipur Nursing Council and doctors and others.
Floral tribute was also offered to the portrait of Florence Nightingale as a part of the event.
