Imphal, September 05 2018:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) organised a joint meeting with all its frontal organisations on August 30 at its office, Kuki Inn and resolved to observe Sahnit Ni or Black Day on September 13 as done for the past many years.
A press release issued by the general secretary of KIM today mentioned that this year marks the 25th year of the genocide unleashed upon the Kukis by the NSCN (IM) between 1992 and 1996, which resulted in the systematic elimination of more than 1000 innocent Kukis.
Pointing out that it is the duty of every Kuki to set aside September 13 as a day of mourning and prayer as a way to remember and commemorate those who lost their lives in the genocide, KIM urged the Black Day to be observed at all the district, block, area/village level.
It also entrusted responsibility to the Kuki Inpi concerned at the district and block level for ensuring the success of the observation.
KIM further mentioned that on the said day, a black flag will be flown at half-mast in every Kuki household in the State as a mark of respect to the victims of the genocide.
