Armed men abduct brick field owner

Unidentified armed men have abducted a brick field owner from his worksite located along the Khuga river early today near Bualjang village in Churachandpur's Tuibong subdivision.
Lalboi Lhungdim (40) s/o (L) Tintong Lhunhdim, a resident of Chiengkon and chief of Dampi village was abducted by some unknown armed men at around 8 am today, sources said.
According to several social media posts, the abductors have also reportedly set ablazed Lhungdim's Bolero Jeep, but nothing could be independently verified as neither the police nor the family were willing to give any comment.
As such, the reason behind the kidnapping could not be ascertained nor the identities of the suspected culprits.
However, several sources said that the abduction was done for ransom.
The Kuki Students' Organisation, Churachandpur, while condemning the kidnapping from GL Brick Field, said that he was forcefully abducted from his brick field near J Saihenjang village, about 8km from Churachandpur Police Station, by a group of armed men dressed in camouflage carrying sophisticated weapons this morning around 8.30 am using a Bolero vehicle.
They have also quoted the version of eye witnesses at GL Brickfield that the armed men thrashed Lunkholal alias Lalboi Lhungdim black and blue without any provocation several times before taking him away.
The student body appealed the abductors to kindly release him at the earliest.
