V&AH Dept staffers briefed on livestock schemes

Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry (V&AH) organised a o le-day sensitisation programme on different livestock schemes of the department including the 21st Livestock Census operation, Foot and Mouth Disease vaccination, livestock insurance, National Livestock Mission (NLMEDP), and artificial insemination among others, at the farmers' training hall of the department's office near Sanjenthong, Imphal on Monday.
Director Dr RK Khogendrajt, joint director (administration) Dr L Arunkumar, senior administrative officer Selina Thounaojam, and joint director (planning) Dr L Gojen attended the programme as presidium members.
In his address, Dr RK Khogendrajit stressed the importance of sensitising the department officials on the various schemes and initiatives of the department for effective implementation so that farmers could reap maximum benefits from them.
He said that the 21st livestock census operation began from October 25 and the department is planning to complete the operation by February next year.
Besides, the department is also eyeing to complete the 4th round of FMD vaccination, which began from July 19, by the end of the year.
Livestock insurance scheme was also implemented from April 5 this year with'the department planning to expand the coverage as much as possible.
At the same time, farmers can apply for financial assistance for various projects with capital subsidy under National Livestock Mission - Entrepreneurship Development Programme (NLM-EDP) for employment generation, he added.
Altogether 155 officers and staff from different district offices of the department participated in the sensitisation programme.
