State bombarded with problems, says Gaikhangam

A day-long seminar on "Manipur: the Road Ahead" was held under the initiative of State Academy of Training at Hotel Classic here today.
Organised with the objective of sharing ideas between the State Government Departments, other Stakeholders and NGOs on various issues confronting the developmental process of the State, the inaugural function of the seminar was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as Chief Guest.
IFC Minister I Hemochandra and Chief Secretary DS Poonia were also present on the occasion as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaikhangam acknowledged that none could deny the fact about the numerous problems afflicting Manipur.
But this picture will not last forever and with a concerted effort put in by all, the State would march forward to achieve success on a grand scale.
"At this point of time, it becomes imperative to take stock of what ails us and make an attempt to look at ways to go forth to a better future for the generations to come", he said.

Gaikhangam further noted that for the last several decades, Manipur has been driven by conflicts on issues of exclusivity, governance and integration.
The conflicts have resulted in a series of flashpoints that have gained national, if not global, attention.
The Deputy Chief Minister went to state that the need of the hour is universal humanism which encompasses with humanism and human rights and go beyond the confines of existing humanitarian armed conflict.
The core development challenge is how to ensure and sustain growth, create jobs and enable inclusivity in the developmental process as well as in delivery of service.
While informing that the State Government is vigorously implementing National e-Governance Programme in Manipur, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam maintained that the Department of Information and technology has taken up capacity building programmes on a large scale.
Manipur is second to Madhya Pradesh in undertaking capacity building programmes in the entire country.
OIT Park Phase-1 is to be inaugurated soon and the State will soon have an IT Special Economic Zone, which will be the first in the North East, he added.
