Imphal, November 30 2021:
BJP's intending candidate in Langthabal assembly constituency P Somorjit has said that MLA Karam Shyam, who recently joined BJP, was so desperate to win the election that he came along with his security escorts and intimidated the public at his (Somorjit) gate by whipping out his licensed gun.
Addressing a press meet at his Chajing Pukhri AchoUba Mapal residence on Tuesday, Somorjit said that MLA Shyam is uncertain of winning the election which is why he tried to show his might and intimidated the public at his rival's gate.
The incident occurred after the MLA spoke in a rude manner to some people who were simply sitting near his gate.
It was fortunate that the incident ended without any major violence as his supporters are peace loving people.
However, he strongly condemned naming some of his workers, who were not involved in the tussle, in the police FIR.
Somorjit then questioned if the election will be free, fair and peaceful considering how the MLA assaulted some of his rival candidate's workers at the candidate's gate by using his might and licensed arm.
The reception function organised for the MLA on joining BJP shows his true nature.
Maximum of the people who were present in the programme were hired audience from Wangoi, Thongju, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Wangjing, Heirok, Khangabok and Singjamei assembly constituencies.
There are no Muslim voters in Langthabal assembly constituency but there were several Muslims in the programme.
At least two to three buses.were used to bring in hired audience from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency for the programme, Somorjit said, while adding that people of Langthabal assembly constituency no longer support MLA Karam Shyam.
He also said that MLA Karam Shyam becoming a member of BJP would tarnish the image of the party.
He accused Shyam of hopping from one party to another in search of power.
Interestingly, the MLA does not even know the name of BJP national president JP Nadda and he called him JP Nanda, Somorjit added.
Regarding the November 25 incident, Somorjit alleged that the incident was planned by the MLA's son Rupa, PRO W Bankim and worker H Ibohal.
One of the MLA's workers assaulted and injured a woman named Pukhrambam Tombi in the incident and it was a crime against women.
Considering his attitude, Karam Shyam has become a blotch for Langthabal assembly constituency.
He scolded Kwatha people when the villagers raised issue of border pillar.
There were several incidents involving him which include PDS rice issue for Pherzawl district, lifting PDS rice from Dimapur FCI warehouse by using a scooter, and NFSA issues in several assembly constituencies.
It is time people of Langthabal AC teach him the right lesson and vote against him, Somorjit added.
He also demanded the MLA to produce a whitepaper on the utilisation of MLA local area development fund in the last five years.
