The People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has said that it welcomes and supports the establishment of the Manipur State Council, Government-in-Exile in London on October 29.The announcement of independence of Manipur from India by the Manipur State Council is a step forward towards achieving the same ultimate goal which PREPAK and many other armed groups have been seeking since Manipur's merger with the Union of India in 1949, said a statement of PREPAK issued by its secretary in-charge, publicity and propaganda, LeibaakNgaakpa Luwang.
It may be noted that Yambem Biren, Chief Minister of the Manipur State Council, Government-in-Exile and Narengbam Samarjit, Minister of External Affairs and Defence, who were granted 'political asylum' in London in August, announced Manipur independence from India during a press conference on October 29 .
