Power drive underway in Senapati

Imphal, October 31 2012: The Electricity Department has started disconnecting the power line of defaulting consumers in Senapati district head quarters, who have not cleared their outstanding dues since yesterday.

According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the drive is being carried out by the staff of Electricity Department Office, Senapati with the help and support of Senapati District Police personnel after necessary notification had been given to the defaulting consumers.

Today, the disconnection drive started off at around 9 am and continued till 3 pm.

The area covered extended from Senapati Bazaar to Toll Tax point near Senapati Bridge.

The drive will continue to cover all the areas on either sides of NH 2, the report added.

The Department has appealed to the consumers whose domestic lines were cut off today, to pay their due taxes and warned that appropriate actions in accordance to the law of the land would be initiated if any of the defaulting consumers whose power line had been snapped are found reconnecting the power line.
