POCSO Court tells Govt to pay interim compensation to minor rape victim

Imphal, August 31 2015: Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Court, Imphal West has ordered the State Government to pay an interim compensation to a minor rape victim within 30 days from the receipt of the order.

The court said the proof of payment of the amount should be produced in the court within 10 days of the payment and the amount will be adjusted against the final compensation if any.

The order was passed by Special Judge (POCSO), Imphal West Th Saimon Singh in connection with a rape case registered under Imphal West police station on June 8, 2015 .

The crime was committed on the minor girl by one Rajkumar Birjit Singh, Imphal West on June 5 afternoon when the victim was taking bath in a bathroom, said the court order.

The POCSO order mentioned that the accused also made a video recording of the "beastly act" and threatened the victim of dire consequences of if she refused to submit to his "lust and desire" .
