Uncontrolled price rise of essential goods in State discussed

Imphal, August 31 2014:
Protection & Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) organized a one day discussion programme on the topic 'Uncontrolled Price Rise of Essential Commodities in Manipur' at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday.
The programme was attended by Elangbam Johnson, convener of PPCM and A Mobi, president of Editors' Guild as President and Moderator respectively.
Delivering key note address, Karam Sunil, member of PPCM stated that ever increasing price rise of essential commodities has affected poor people at large and pointed out that the government should work together with chamber of commerce to fix price of all essential commodities in markets.
He said that the government should also revive the Price Fixation Committee which was disbanded years back to monitor price of essential commodities in markets.
W Deben, District Supply Officer, Bisnupur & Senapati, Directorate of CAF & PD; Meihoubam Rakesh, Executive Director of Human Rights Law Network; Th Ibohal, vice-president of Transporters & Drivers' Council; Prof Dr Chinglen Maisnam, Department of Economics, Manipur University; T Phulchand Sharma, former president of Consumers' Club and Ng Haridas, general secretary of Transporters' & Drivers' Council also spoke on the topic during the occasion.
