Imphal, June 30 2015 :
Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has opined that the ongoing dispute over Dzukou valley should be resolved as per the customary and traditional way.
It also appealed to the Manipur Government not to send security forces in the area as it brings social unrest and aggravated the situation.
The front in a press statement appealed to the people of Mao and Southern Angami to come to an understanding regarding the Koziitii/Kezoltsa land dispute at Dzukou valley 'based on the customary and traditional way of conflict resolution' .
It also appreciated the observation and endorsement of Nagaland CM TR Zeliang to end the dispute traditionally as a 'positive sign' as it may avoid further misunderstanding between these two groups of people.
ZYF urged all to give enough room and space to resolve and understanding between the two parties concerned by taking it as a normal conflict.
The front also said that the Manipur Government should have entrusted this issue to the Hill Areas Committee (HAC), which is a competent body.
It also condemned the manner in which the State Government has deployed 4th IRB in the disputed areas as if to deal with an emergency situation.
The press release further added that deployment of security forces has only aggravated the situation that the Southern Angami People Organisation (SAPO) had even targeted the people from Mao community at Kohima town.
ZYF appealed to the Manipur Government to stop its 'politically motivated move' on this issue as Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (MLR and LR) Act does not encompass this particular area.
The front further appealed to the Government not to send additional security forces to the Mao-SAPO areas as it incites social unrest, and added that the Manipur Government should be held responsible if any negative consequences come out of this issue.
