Dr Yaikhomba relishes chance to help ailing kids

Paediatrician Dr Yaikhomba Taorem has expressed happiness on getting the opportunity to visit ailing children, especially a two month old baby whose parents could no longer afford hospital stay.
Sharing his experience of visiting the ailing children at their homes, Dr Yaikhomba told The People's Chronicle that he visited around 20 Covid-19 positive children in Ngairangbam and Heikrujam.
During his visit, he came across a two-month-old baby, whose parents could no longer afford hospital stay and had to bring the child home.
The baby was prescribed an injection by doctor and the family was facing difficulties in finding willing persons to administer the injection.
He assessed the condition of the baby and replaced the injection with an oral suspension, which he provided free of cost.
He carried out his voluntary service from 3 to 6 pm.
He and his team felt happy on seeing the happiness on the faces of the parents on seeing them.
Apart from the nurses, who also volunteered to join him, Dr Yaikhomba is also getting support from Imphal West Students' Club by identifying the children and their addresses.
Dr Yaik- homba said that he lost his father and his mother has an ailment.
So, he isolated himself from the rest of his family after returning home.
He is also getting full support from his family members, the Shija paediatrician said and added that he will visit Moidangpok area on Tuesday.
