Imphal, January 30 2018: On owner of an iron as well as a tyre workshop at Samaram Lamkhai, opposite Khongjom War memorial gate, Thoubal, was shot dead by unidentified individuals at the workshop today.

The deceased has been identified as Thokchom Ratan (45) s/o Th Jugeshwor of Charangpat Maning Leikai.

According to source, locals claimed to have witnessed three unidentified individuals coming in a scooter from Khongjom bazar side and going into the workshop.

Not too long later, a loud sound rang out from the workshop and when the people went in to investigate , they found Thokchom Ratan lying dead near the workshop's door.

The source pointed out that the deceased had been shot two times in the head and when the people investigated, the assailants were nowhere to be seen.

The source further pointed out that the deceased, Thokchom Ratan, was jailed in the past for allegedly raping his daughter in law in 2015 .

A case has been registered at Khongjom PS regarding the incident.
