Imphal, September 29 2024:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) said that both the Centre and the state government must be responsible if any unwanted incident happen to the two out of the three missing youths from Thoubal, Oinam Thoithoi Singh and Thokchom Thoithoiba Singh.
According to a COCOMI statement, three youths from Thoubal district namely Ningombam Johnson, Oinam Thoithoi and Thokchom Thoithoiba went to appear SSC (GD) recruitment exam but were kidnapped.
While Johnson has been rescued by central forces, Thoithoi and Thoithoiba remain in captivity.
Terming as unfortunate government and security agencies' inability to rescue two missing youths, COCOMI contended the incident is primarily due to negligence of central security forces under the home ministry and state forces.
More than 60,000 central forces and over 35,000 state forces are deployed in different locations of Manipur but they are unable to protect lives and properties of the people of the state for the past one and half years.
Their inability to prevent killings, torching of houses and contain the violence for a long time shows that they are being deployed to ruin and destroy the Manipuri society, COCOMI charged.
Asking as to why security forces deployed in the state to protect lives and properties of the people remain as silent spectators and did not act swiftly when Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists abducted the three youths right under their nose, COCOMI also questioned reason behind holding SSC exam in red zone if security agencies are unable to protect lives and properties of the people.
While urging both the Centre and the state government to rescue the two kidnapped youths, COCOMI warned that the organisation and the people will not remain silent if government and security agencies fail to rescue the kidnapped youth or any unwanted consequences befall on them.
