Jiribam General strike ends peacefully

Jiribam, September 29 2011:
The 60 hours General Strike of the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) which began from September 26, 6 pm concluded early this morning without any report of unwanted incidents.
Shops and establishments, schools, government offices and markets in Jiribam Sub Division remained shut during the general strike.
Large number of general strike supporters came out on the streets and stopped traffic and even cycle and pedestrian.
Jiribam Police and Police Commandos personnel from Imphal kept a tide vigil for any unwanted incidents during the general strike.
Meanwhile, reiterating its stand on their demand, JDDC co-convener W Dinesh in a press release stated that the committee will launch a series of more stringent stir until and unless the government fulfills its demands.
