Churachandpur, August 29 2019:
The Tribal Unity Day which will run into its fourth year on August 31 will be observed in a solemn but befitting manner with every individual paying floral tributes to the 'martyrs' at the Tribal Martyrs Park, JAC Against Anti-Tribal Bills sources said.
On August 31 in 2006, the tribal communities of the State cutting across communal lines gathered at Lamka Public Ground to protest three Bills passed by the State Assembly which they deemed were 'anti-tribal'.
Tens of thousands of people draped in black clothes had backed the movement against the Bills led by JAC AATB which eventually led to scrapping of the three infamous Bills.
The JAC AATB has been observing the Tribal Unity Day for the past three years to honour the ultimate sacrifice made by nine people including a minor boy to safeguard the rights and privileges of the tribal communities.
