Imphal, January 29 2015 :
Expressing serious concern over mushrooming up of various private tuition centres in every nook and corner of the State, All Manipur Students' Guardians' Organisation (AMSGO) has called for countering this private tuition culture considering its impact in the society.
Addressing a press meet at its Palace Compound office here on Thursday, AMSGO secretary (organisation) Sougrakpam Sumati noted that many private tuition centres have come up in the last few years and going to these tuition centres has becoming a fashion among the students, thereby, giving a serious impact on the economic condition of many families.
There is no uniformity in the fee structure and each tuition centre is charging whatever amount they fancy, Sumati said.
Apart from the fact that those who are running tuition centres look upon students as some sort of money bags, parents have also started thinking tuition as mandatory for their kids, Sumati further noted.
Pointing out that one of the main reasons for the emerging tuition culture in Manipur today is the failure of the teachers to take proper classes in schools, she called for collective efforts to stop tuition culture and counter its impact before it is too late.
