Mapithel dam partially submerges villages

Imphal, April 28 2015 : Mapithel Dam affected upstream villages on Tuesday urged the Government to release the dam water before re-settlement and rehabilitation of villages are done.

A team of media persons inspected the fields which have been submerged by the water.

While speaking to media persons, KSH David of Chadong village said that their village has not received the compensation.

As per agreement signed with the government they should have been paid.

He alleged that the government has violated the agreement and forcibly started to evacuate the villagers.

He said that they sacrificed their lands in the interest of the people and for the development works.

David reminded the Government to keep the agreements.

He appealed to Chief Minister O Ibobi to think again and realize the grievances of dam affected upstream people.
