CCpur, February 28 2024:
Ration supply to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) numbering around 20,000 and staying in 118 relief camps in different parts of Churachandpur district resumed from 5pm Wednesday after almost two weeks.
Supply of essential materials to displaced persons for a week on every Monday was halted in the aftermath of the February 15 night incident wherein offices of DC and SP Churachandpur were vandalised and torched by an irate mob protesting suspension of a police head constable.
However, disbursement of rice to 15 philanthropic organisations looking after relief camps began late Wednesday afternoon.
Considering the hardships faced by the displaced persons, the district administration initiated steps to disburse 500 bags of rice, an official informed while adding that disbursement of other essential items like Dal, onion, potato, cooking oil and others could not be resumed due to logistic issues.
The development comes after displaced persons staged 'Empty Pot Protest' on February 21 urging the government to ensure release of rice, Dal and other food items to save them from starvation.
