Imphal, October 27 2015:
Few sections of people who claim themselves as leaders and their activities in both the hills and valley have distanced the erstwhile communal ties between people and turned Manipur into a State of turmoil.
This was stated by titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba during his speech as the Chief Guest at the Mera Hou-Chongba festival organised by Mera Hou-Chongba Thousil Lup, Sana Konung at Sana Konung.
The titular king said that about 95% of Mera Hou-Chongba observation is of rituals while the remaining 5% are about entertainment.
Expressing dismay with the celebration of the festival at different parts of the state without following the traditional rituals, Leishemba Sanajaoba feared that such celebrations without rituals might further create a gap between the communities instead of strengthening ties.

To observe Mera Hou-Chongba festival, rituals such as Chaoren Houba, Men Tongba, Kwak Tanba have been offered every day as part of prayers for a prosperous State since the first day of Mera month.
But celebrating the day to gain political mileage or just observing the festival by some sections of people will be wrong, pointed out Sanajaoba.
He said that the occasion is not for a particular community or a religion but for all.
Defending a country is not for a particular community but for all who are residing in that country.
Those who are born and brought up in the State's soil by eating its resources should think of Manipur and if they fail to have the feeling, they will not be born again as humans, lamented Leishemba Sanajaoba.
He appealed all the communities in the State to wake up before the unseen wave strike Manipur.
The Mera Hou-Chongba festival was also celebrated at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Haying Khongbal, Tolong Yumpham, Imphal organized by the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board apart from many others.
