Escaped hunger strikers rearrested

The 13 pro-ILPS student hunger strikers, who managed to flee from the Takyel Observatory Home on Tuesday, have been rearrested by police on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned that four of the escapers reached DESAM head office at Keishampat Junction and resumed their hunger strike and the other nine protesters continued their agitation in front of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Nongmeibung.
The four students who were fasting in front of the DESAM office were rearrested on Wednesday at around 4.30 pm by Juvenile officials.
The protesters are Salam Nivash (CC Higher Sec School), s/o Salam Rajendro of Heirangoithong Yaingam Leikai, Loitongbam Premkumar (Imphal College), s/o L Joykumar of Ghari Awang Leikai, Suraj Khetrimayum (CC Higher Sec School), s/o Ksh Khamba of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Moirangthem Nelson (Delhi Public School), s/o M Ibomcha of Langthabal Mantrikhong Mayai Leikai.

The arrested student agitators have been admitted to Takyel Juvenile Home for treatment.
The other nine students are Toijam Robinson (CC Higher Sec School), Arambam Bhopendro (Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy), Khaidem Johnson (Ram Lal Paul Higher Sec School), Yumnam Luwangamba (Ram Lal Paul Higher Sec School), Thounaojam Malemnganba (Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy), Oinam Suresh (Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy), Lairikyengbam Dayananda (Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy), Leishangkhong Fajal (Lamlong Higher Sec School) and Thoudam Mukesh (Lamlong Higher Sec School) .
The students are undergoing treatment at JNIMS after they were rearrested by a team of ILPS Medical Help Line on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, general secretary of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Sagolsem Surjit, s/o Surchandra of Nongmeibung Old Checkon, who was detained at the Takyel Juvenile Home, escaped from the home on Wednesday at around 3.30 pm and resumed indefinite hunger strike in front of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy for some hours before he was rearrested by a team of ILPS Medical Help Line and admitted to JNIMS for treatment.
The six DESAM volunteers who have been fasting since August 23 in front of DESAM head office were also arrested by police on Wednesday evening at around 6.30 .
Meanwhile, demanding immediate implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, many more new protesters came out to follow the indefinite hunger strike.
Meeteileima Wahengbam, Oinam Malemnganba, Priyanka Thingmaijam, Loitongbam Suraj and Karam Jameson have been undergoing their indefinite hunger strike in front of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy.
On the other hand, Manju Moirangthem, Binika Lourembam and Brahmacharimayum Narendra have been fasting near Eastern Motors at Chingmeirong while Yumkham Henkori, Samurailatpam Samita and Aheibam Debshri are on indefinite hunger strike at the bus waiting shed of Takyel Kolom Leikai.
Samurailatpam Dhananjoy, Aheibam Ibomcha and Arun Salam are staging fast unto-death stir near Thangmeiband THAU Ground while many more in different areas of valley districts including Yairipok, Thoubal and Nambol are taking up indefinite hunger strike in demand of ILPS to protect the indigenous people of the state.
