Grant fund for Panchayat fixed : Parshottam

Sapam Leikai Gram Panchayat, Imphal West today organised a reception ceremony in honour of Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare and Panchayati Raj Parshottam Khodabhai Rupala.
Pradhans and Members of the Gram Panchayat attended the occasion as presidium members.
Speaking at the function, the Union Minister said that the BJP-led Government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to bring a significant change in functioning of Panchayats in the country.
He said that earlier Panchayats used to get a meagre amount of Central fund that also through agencies.
He asserted that Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of the country, who took the initiative to transfer fund to Panchayats through its account directly and gave the right to Panchayats to utilise the fund without any interference from agencies.
The Union Minister informed that the grant fund for Panchayat has been fixed with a yearly amount of Rs 480 for each individual of the respective Panchayats.
He said that the grant fund for Panchayats cannot be deferred by the State Government.
As per the guidelines of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the State Government has to pay interest of the grant fund if it is deferred by 15 days, he added.
Maintaining that PM Natendra Nodi reposes faith in Pradhans for development of villages, the Union Minister urged the Pradhans of the State to utilise the grant fund accordingly and live up to the aspiration of the PM for all round development of the country.
The Union Minister also acknowledged the active participation of women in such events which according to him is a positive sign.
