National Panchayat Day observance today

Stage has been set for the observance of National Panchayat Day by every gram Panchayat across the state on Sunday.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj would be hosting the state event at Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat, Imphal East.
As per instructions of the ministry of Panchayati raj, the day should be observed by every GP and village council by holding special gram sabha.
Panchayat awards will be distributed in different categories while recognising outstanding performance of gram panchayats during the national function to be held in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the observance from Jammu and Kashmir from where he will address the elected representatives of PRIs and the nation.
The PM will also transfer award money of Rs 44.70 crore into the bank accounts of 322 award winning GPs.
The different categories of awards which will be distributed during the function are Deendayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Purashkar, Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Purashkar, Child Friendly Gram Sabha Award, Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) Award and E-Panchayat Purashkar.
Out of the 322 award winning GPs, Child Friendly Gram Sabha Award will be conferred to 29 GPs; GPDP award to 29 GPs, Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Purashkar to 27 GPs, and Deendayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Purashkar to 28 district panchayats, 53 block panchayats and 156 GPs/village councils.
Each award-winning GP will get cash reward ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
The e-Panchayat Purashkar is presented to state governments in two categories for their overall performance of the GPs.
Karnataka and Chhattisgarh are in the first and second position in the first category while Odisha and Uttar Pradesh share the third place.
Tripura, Assam and Sikkim are the top three winners in the second category.
