Twenty Chinese hand grenades and 119 live rounds of AK ammunition were recovered by the Imphal west police commandos from Lamphel Sanakeithel area on November 19 with the arrest of a woman along with her husband.
While claiming that the recovered items belonged to KCP (Khaba) group, officer in-charge of Imphal west commando unit, KT Singh identified that arrested couple as Nongthonbam Jiten (42) son of late Ibohanbi of Khurai Kongkham Leikai and his wife Vijenti Devi alias Inaocha (42) .
They were active sympathizers, harbourers and OGWs of the proscribed KCP (Khaba) group, the OC said that the items were recovered during a raid to at the rented house of Lamphel Sanakeithel with women police constable.
The 20 numbers of Chinese hand grenades which is packed in Tin fish and 119 numbers of AK ammunitions were deposited by one Ibungo of KCP around the middle week of October last, the Oc added.
Meanwhile, separate counter insurgency operation by the security forces and police commandos, three cadres of different underground outfits including women activists of banned PLA outfits were apprehended, official sources said.
A woman activist of PLA identified as Keisham Amubi Devi (43) daughter of late K Gopal Singh of Wabagai Kadajit village was apprehended by a team of Thoubal police commandos.
Near her house yesterday and handed over to Kakching police station.
A team of 23 Assam Rifles also nabbed a PLA activist from Itham village under Lamlai about 20 km south, Imphal east district yesterday evening and handed over to Lamlai police.
He has been identified as Nameirakpam Tikendra Singh (39) son of N Angousana Singh of Itham Mamang Leikai.
On November 20 at 7 hrs, a team of police commandos of Bishnupur district arrested one KCP activists from Leimapokpam Awang Leikai under Nambol PS about 7 km southeast, Bishnupur district identified as Oinam Pakpi Devi @ Lakpa (36) wife of O Ibohal Singh of Wahengbam Chingphu Bazar.
