Jiribam school running sans principal, in-charge

Jiribam, August 22 2022: Borobekra Higher Secondary School, the only government higher secondary school in Jiribam district's Borobekra sub-division is functioning without any principal or principal in-charge, according to four student organisations.

Addressing a press meet at the office premises of MSF district committee, Jiribam on Monday, DESAM Jiribam district council president Laishram Bilaksh said that members of AMSU, DESAM, MSF and KSA units paid a surprise visit to the school on Monday only to find the school functioning without any principal or principal in-charge.

Terming the matter as depriving rights and opportunities of the students, he appealed to the state government to appoint a regular principal or a principal in charge at the earliest.

On the other hand, several teachers on contract basis were found skipping their duties despite having a transit quarter near the school as the attendance register was found blank.

There is also inadequate number of teachers in the school despite the repeated appeals of the student bodies to fill up the sanctioned number of posts, he said, while drawing attention of the authority concerned to look into the matter.

KSA Jiribam district council president Ch Achou, MSF district committee Jiribam president A Ratan and AMSU district committee Jiribam executive member S Samarjit also attended the press meet.
