CCpur, November 21 2019:
Five houses have been reduced to ashes in an inferno that battered the interior village of M Songpijang in Churachandpur's Kangvai sub-division at around 12 noon yesterday.
Sources said the fire started from a house where a hundred-year-old lady lives.
The lady who was rescued from the blazing house by a villager identified as Hegin is understood to have told the villagers that the fire started when she tried to lit the kitchen fire but accidentally the fire went out of control.
No properties have been saved from the blazing fire that spread to five adjoining houses and reduced them to ashes.
The SDO of Kangvai, Solomon L Fimate said the village is located in a very remote area and requires about 20 kms walk on foot to reach.
It was accessed from Leimatak area.
The SDO last night personally delivered immediate relief materials from the district administration for the families at the last motorable location and handed them over to representatives of KKL Leimatak.
The philanthropic organization, Fimate said, is believed to have delivered the relief materials containing, rice, dal, oil, sugar, tea-leaves and others to the affected families.
The KKL GHQs has also appealed for donations of relief material in cash and kind to help the family.
They will be reaching out to the families with more relief items said a source.
