Governor stresses full vaccination of eligible citizens

Governor La Ganesan visited Thoubal and Kakching district headquarters on Thursday to acquaint self with the people and know the culture and tradition of the area.
In connection with the Governor's visit, the district administrations jointly organised a function at the Thoubal DC office complex.
Thoubal DC A Subhas Singh and DC Kakching D Gangmei made power point presentations on activities and achievements of Thoubal and Kakching district administrations respectively.
The two officials also highlighted various issues besetting their districts including shortage of manpower and infrastructure in education sector, sports, agriculture sector and lack of full-fledged district hospital for Kakching district were some of the points out forward to the governor.
In his speech, the Governor applauded the officials for their hard work and noted the problems of the two districts.
Talking about free open defecation, La Ganeshan urged the stakeholders to work towards achieving the feat not only in the urban areas but also in all the districts of the state.
Ganesan urged the people to make victory sign as a habit for some time to show fellow people that he or she has been vaccinated twice.
He said that people can meet with each other if they made the sign without any hesitation.
He further appealed to those general public who are yet to get vaccination to get the vaccine dose in order to prevent the dreaded disease.
He said that as the government has been making concerted efforts to vaccinate all eligible citizens, public cooperation would be decisive for the state to return to normalcy.
Appreciating the works of the police department in fighting against smuggling of illegal products and other related cases, the governor advised the police officials to report the number of cases they have taken up to show their activities in detail.
He also stressed that all the district level officials should strive to keep the whole district clean and green by increasing the forest cover in the district.
An interaction session with district level officers, civil society organisations, entrepreneurs and students was also conducted during the gathering.
After hearing the suggestions and demands put up during the session by the CSOs and the students, La Ganeshan assured to try fulfil the demands as far as possible.
The programme was attended by national teacher awardee M Tombimacha Singh as president of the function, officials and staff of Thoubal and Kakching district headquarters.
The Governor also visited Khongjom War Memorial Complex in Thoubal district and offered floral tributes to heroes of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 and went to Kakching Garden in Kakching district as part of his visit to the district headquarters.
