World Blood Donor Day observed

Thoubal, July 21 2018:
District Health Society Thoubal Branch and Blood Bank and Transfusion Unit Thoubal observed World Blood Donor Day with an awareness rally and a blood donation camp at Thoubal DC complex today.
17 veteran blood donors of the district were encouraged and appreciated with simple gifts at the event.
Students of New Public School Khangabok and LM High School Athokpam staged awareness rallies from their respective schools to the venue of the World Blood Donor Day observation at Thoubal DC complex.
MO in-charge of Blood Bank and Transfusion Unit Thoubal Dr Doren spoke at the event about the importance of donating blood and encouraged youth to donate blood.
Speaking at the event about the need of donating blood, State Programme Officer of State Blood Cell NHM Dr L Tomcha Khuman said that the State need about 28,000 blood donors (one time) in a year.
State Programme Officer of State Blood Cell NHM Dr L Tomcha Khuman, CMO Thoubal Dr N Jayentakumar, DFWO Thoubal Ksh Memcha and District Youth co-ordinator NYK Thoubal Y Laksman attended the event as presidium members.
The day was observed today as it was postponed due to the recent flood that hit the district.
World Blood Donor day is observed every year on June 14 .
